DESIGN
As the intrinsic relationship between theory, analysis and design will be addressed in each publication, the ‘design’ part will present the architectural intervention proposal, which is based on the theoretical premises and the (in)direct result of the findings and insights the spatial analysis offered. The water and electricity needed for Chongqing’s automated production plant are made available in close vicinity, while the facility is also connected to several logistical systems (highways, train tracks, etc.) for both influx and outflow of goods and materials. This intrinsic relation to the plant’s immediate context is also substantiated by allowing the (limited number of) cows, whose biopsied tissue samples will be used to synthetically grow a great variety of meats, the possibility to graze outside, thus offering them a living environment that considers their well-being as much as possible. Each hexagonal unit of the project serves several operational functions in the plant, which, when combined, starts to constitute an architecture that resembles a giant, megastructural beehive.
