Archipelago of Wonders

As the intrinsic relationship between theory, analysis and design will be addressed in each publication, the ‘design’ part will present the architectural intervention proposal, which is based on the theoretical premises and the (in)direct result of the findings and insights the spatial analysis offered. The project intervenes the Trieste System- i.e. a topology of the international organizations and institutions- by suggesting Anatoli Bugorski Independent Research Institute for Scientific Failures which is situated in geologically unstable Karstic terrain of a former cement quarries. As spatial procedures, the project employs a multi-level horizontal extraction method which accords the needs of the institution for further experimentation and expansion, confronting chequered excavation system with the chemical and physical bedrock instability—enforcing exceptions and adaptations.
