The Landscape Post-Mortem

DESIGN

As the intrinsic relationship between theory, analysis and design will be addressed in each publication, the ‘design’ part will present the architectural intervention proposal, which is based on the theoretical premises and the (in)direct result of the findings and insights the spatial analysis offered. In ‘The Landscape Post-Mortem’, this sequence has resulted in five different architectural intervention proposals, each offering one stage of the process of grief concerning the Çarnakkale landscape. Respectively Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression and Acceptance have been architecturally translated into a Bunker, Wetland, Cemetery, Cenotaph and Crypt. This centralization of grief offers a dialogue between various themes related to the (seemingly) dead landscape, ranging from terraforming to death to rebirth, from the instant to the eternal.
