The Landscape Post-Mortem

THEORY

As the intrinsic relationship between theory, analysis and design will be addressed in each publication, the ‘theory’ part explains the terms and concepts underlying the project. Through this theoretical elaboration, the terminology that is central to the project is discussed and expanded upon, which, in this particular case, deals with the notion of ‘Indeterminacy’. The paper explicates Functional Indeterminacy, followed by a discussion of Indeterminacy as Method and as Occurrence, and concludes by Defining the Territory as a consequence of Indeterminacy. Ultimately, the argument brings forward an understanding of the territory that is non-static, always evolving and thus in a constant state of transformation. In this part, the theoretical relationships that conceptually ground and frame the project are made explicit.
