DESIGN
As the intrinsic relationship between theory, analysis and design will be addressed in each publication, the ‘design’ part will present the architectural intervention proposal based on the theoretical premises and the (in)direct result of the findings and insights the spatial analysis offered. Out of the analyses emerges a relation between light, position, and topology of the continent, which can (dis)place a boat in the captain’s understanding, even if it is just for a moment. The project then places 97 follies of Panama, each floating at the coordinate points of the distorted map of Pacific Ocean to act as markers, lighthouses, and objects of mystery and intrigue. Each structure contains a residential capsule that allows residents to take qualitative measures of their specific location, necessarily at odds with the (quantitative, abstract) cartesian system that places them there.
